DEBUT ALBUM 'SAGT'
OUT NOW
TOUR
The Scandinavian ensemble blends contemporary Nordic roots with folk noir’s moody depth and alternative folk-rock’s dynamic energy.
Fronting VÍÍK is Norwegian folk singer and composer Elisabeth Vik, who lures the audience into an enchanting universe of mysterious medieval ballads and fairytales. The band has recently been nominated for Live Act of the Year in the Danish Music Awards Roots category.
"The music is insanely well played and can shift from sweet mandole to shredding violins and heavy, threatening bass in the same song. Meanwhile, the sweet and approachable blonde, Elisabeth Vik, growls animalistic and wordless vocalizations, reminiscent of Mike Patton from Faith No More at his most rambunctious."

Formed in Denmark in 2019, Víík is the bold vision of Norwegian vocalist and composer Elisabeth Vik, who, alongside Danish bassist Jakob Kragesand, created a sound that unites the old with the new. With violinist Annelene Toft Christensen, multi-instrumentalist Espen Wensaas (mandola, guitars, mandolin), and drummer/percussionist Håkon Berre, the ensemble merges traditional Nordic folk roots with a modern, boundary-pushing edge.
In Vik’s words: “With Víík, I wanted to dismantle my musical heritage and put it back together to reflect the globalized nature of myself and my generation. I felt a strong need to rebel against the cool, minimalist aesthetic of Nordic folk, and this firework of a band has enabled me to do just that.”
Their 2024 debut album, SAGT (What’s Been Said), quickly made waves across Europe, climbing into the top 10 of the European World Music Charts and showcasing their unique ability to blend high-energy virtuosity with emotional depth. Víík’s live performances are an experience in themselves, featuring the magnetic charisma of Vik as a vocalist and storyteller, backed by a powerhouse ensemble that effortlessly shifts from introspective delicacy to explosive energy, drawing on everything from playful, childlike wonder to unbridled passion and rage.
Víík has earned an impressive 10 Danish Music Award nominations over just five years, spanning categories like Artist of the Year, Live Act of the Year, Traditional Artist, Composer, and Track of the Year. Their unconventional spirit and top-tier musicianship have captivated audiences across Europe and brought new life to Scandinavian folk. Recently featured at Folk Music Ontario (FMO) and appearing at Mundial Montreal, Víík is building a growing fanbase across North America, and their performances continue to attract international acclaim.
Canadian festival-goers and performing arts audiences can look forward to a performance where meticulously crafted musicality meets raw, untamed expression. With rich, powerful compositions and Vik’s fearless soprano—“risk-taking and wild,“ as critics noted—Víík invites audiences into a soundscape that is both grounded in heritage and refreshingly rebellious.
'Her bright soprano always hits the nail on the head, and it is not only bright and beautiful but also risk-taking and wild. You can clearly see that Elisabeth Vik dares the ugly and gruesome, and you can feel the primordial witch lurking just beneath the surface of her skin.'
